Ghana's Supreme Court Failed In 2012 Election Petition, They Should Learn From Kenya – Maurice Ampaw

The Supreme Court of Ghana failed in their duty in 2012 with the verdict in the election petition, says Lawyer Maurice Ampaw.
The outspoken lawyer, using the recent Kenyan election case a yardstick, said the Kenyan court had the courage to do the right thing but the Ghanaian court could not.
The Kenyan Supreme Court recently overturned the results of the country’s elections citing irregularities. However, in a similar case in 2012, Ghana’s Supreme Court dismissed the petition.
Speaking on Hello Fm, Ampaw said the 2012 verdict was a disgrace the wrong one to be taken.
“If you read Justice William Atuguba’s verdict it is full of insults…, he insulted Nana Addo and NPP that their petition is one of most useless petitions ever” Ampaw said.
“When we have a clear case where the Constitution says “Shall’ then we have Atuguba interpreting it another way. Justice Atugaba led the Supreme Court to fail to uphold the law and constitution of the country”
He added: “Unlike Kenya’s Supreme Court, our Judges failed to do constitutional right. …judges in Kenya were bold to uphold to their constitutional right”
