I Did Not Receive Money Or A Car To Campaign For Mahama — Mzbel

President Mahama and Mzbel

One of former President John Dramani Mahama’s staunchest advocates during the last election was singer Mzbel, real name Belinda Ekua Amoah.
The singer was everywhere campaigning for the NDC, even going so far as to insult Mahama’s opponent, Nana Akufo-Addo, as not presidential material.
Her strong NDC support raised numerous questions over what she is getting in return, with rumours of cash, houses or cars being presented to celebrities like herself who supported the ruling government.
However, in a recent interview with MzGee on Hitz Fm, Mzbell has debunked all those rumours. According to her, she bought her own car and the NDC did not buy it for her. She also said she received money from a campaign song she composed, but apart from that no one gave her money solely for the campaign work she did.
“I bought my own car. I composed a song for the National Democratic Congress and they paid me.” she told MzGee.
“I was contracted by the late Mr David Lamptey, who unfortunately passed on before I could show him the song. I submitted my song to the party office, they loved it, made me change a few things in the song and they paid me,” she added.
