An Accra High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a member of Ghana’s legislature for contempt of court.
Member of Paliament (MP) for Berekum East, Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah, and one other ‘accomplice’, are to be arrested and hauled before court for contempt.
The two are parties to a land dispute case currently being adjudicated before the court. The judge ruled that all development on the land should cease whilst the dispute goes on, but the MP and Majima Mohammed, the accomplice, continued developing the land.
The judge has therefore issued the warrant for their arrest, for them to be brought before the court on Wednesday, September 27, to answer charges of contempt of court.
