Many, many artists boast about their wealth all the time. It’s kind of part of the celebrity culture to always prove how wealthy you are than everyone else.
Shatta Wale and Kwaw Kese are just two stars who have tried to prove their wealth by claiming they were building million dollar homes, and ostentatious flashes of wealth among celebrities occur every damn day.
One artist not happy about those kind of displays is Tic Tac, who feels its disrespectful to legends of the game.
Speaking on Class Fm, the ‘Philomena’ hitmaker said old time stars have done things young stars can only dream of therefore whether the young ones are claiming to be the richest or to have sold the most CDs, they are completely disrespecting these legends.
“Sometimes, they do richest musicians and I wonder, how can they say this is the richest whiles I know that Amakye Dede has this and that, that any of us do not have…if you calculate the things Amakye Dede has no musician comes close.” Tic Tac said.
“If you compare Daddy Lumba’s [wealth], you will hit your head on the floor and with Kojo Antwi, he is the bomb. So what I’m saying is that stop rating these things, it should stop, it’s not necessary, it’s disrespecting our country.”
Tic Tac said the boasting is even worse in terms of selling of CDs, in which case the young artists come nowhere close to the old guys.
“Somebody goes somewhere and says I’ve sold 10,000 (copies of cds) and its history and I’m thinking, don’t you have respect for Ghana? When we know artistes have sold 500,000 (copies of cds) in a day. Did you not hear of shortage of Lumba’s album on its release day? Ask Big Ben how many copies of CDs he made; we are talking about 500,000 records which finished in a day. You sell 10,000 copies and you claim you’ve made history? Let’s stop this.” the animated rapper opined.
He’s hit the nail so completely on the head.
