Trainee nurses in the country are in ecstasy today as government has officially restored the allowances they receive whilst in school.
The restoration was announced at a special launch held in Sunyani Tuesday, with dozens of trainee nurses based in the region in attendance.
The issue was another of the NPP’s main campaign promises and how they distanced themselves from the previous administration. The NDC scrapped the allowances in 2014 and Akufo-Addo promised to restore them if elected.
At the launch today, he reiterated that it was not an empty campaign promise but a real one which is necessary to building an efficient healthcare system.
Trainee nurses would now receive Ghc 400 per month for the duration of their stay in Training College.
