Deputy National Organizer of the opposition NDC, Maheed Jibril, says the free SHS program is collapsing because any program that is free is not well managed.
Jibril, speaking on Happy Fm, said the NPP rushed to implement the program and thus are facing numerous challenges which are being swept under the rug just so that they can declare a campaign promise fulfilled.
According to him, the program would never last and would soon collapse to the ground.
“You see what is happening in the educational front leading to the sacking of some teachers who spoke about the challenges that popped up during the introduction of the policy across the country? I am telling you that anything that is rolled out on the basis freebies will never last.” Jibril said.
The current NPP government promised to roll out a free shs policy if elected and they have, although it has been plagued with numerous challenges. Only time will tell if the policy would be sustainable or it would have to be nixed after a year or two.
