Jesus Christ once allegedly said that ‘love your neighbour as yourself’, yet the people who most claim to be his followers do nothing but hate their neighbours all day long (those from other tribes, other political affiliation, atheists and gays etc).
And yes, I’m talking about my fellow Ghanaians, the saddest, sickest, twisted, hypocritical bunch of people the face of this planet has ever seen.
Religion is the opium of the masses, Karl Marx once (in)famously said, and from the moment he penned that incredibly enlightened statement till the end of time, he would always be right.
Religion provides a framework in which you can dump all your problems on an imaginary father so you can cope with this tough life; whilst simultaneously giving people a perfect cover for their own prejudices and bigotry.
Christopher Hitchens also once infamously wrote that ‘religion poisons everything’, and it does — what else provides such a good cover for murder (ISIS), discrimination (LGBT rights), pedophelia (the Catholic Church) and many, many other vices as religion does? It fosters and protects powerful, evil people and has been stifling the fight for equality since the beginning of time.
It also makes otherwise good people rejoice over murder and feel they are doing the ‘right’ thing.
In the United States of America, a man shot his 14 year old son to death, allegedly for being gay.
Citi Fm reported on the news, quoting MailOnline:
A father has been arrested after he allegedly shot dead his son because he found out he was gay, police have said.
Giovanni Melton, from Henderson, Nevada, was gunned down by his father Wendell Melton after an argument on Thursday afternoon about how he is gay and has a boyfriend, police told KSNV.
‘He hated the fact that his son was gay,’ the 14-year-old’s former foster mom Sonia Jones told the station.
‘I’m sure that inside of his mind, he would rather have a dead son than a gay son.’
Jones said that Wendell, 53, had previously pulled a gun on his son before when he caught him with his boyfriend.
Police arrived on the scene Thursday after receiving a report about a domestic disturbance at their apartment.
When authorities arrived they found the 14-year-old in critical condition and rushed him to St Rose Dominican Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Giovanni lived alone at the apartment where he was fatally shot, police have said.
Wendell Melton was arrested on Friday and booked into the Henderson Detection center.
He has been charged with open murder, child abuse and prohibited person possessing a firearm. It isn’t clear if he will be charged with a hate crime.
In the comments of the story on the Citi Fm Facebook page, people can be seen openly rejoicing at the death of this 14 year old kid. 14 years! Most of them use their religion to justify why the father has done the right thing in murdering his 14 year old son.

Proud, Christian Ghanaians are coming out to support this murder, in the name of their religion, with some even going so far as to say KKD should have done the same thing.
What kind of sad, sick, twisted worldview makes you look at the murder of a 14 year old and not only support it, but rejoice in it? Is that how blinded by hatred we have become, hiding under the umbrella of piousness?
What makes everything worse is that we are talking here about a bunch of people who break virtually every other law in the bible, but have for some reason decided that their sins are ok but homos*xuality is unforgivable — the ultimate Hypocrisy.
We are talking about a group of people who worship some guy known as the ‘Prince of Peace’, but are rejoicing over the murder of a child. Hypocrisy.
We are talking about a group of people whose central tenets, the 10 Commandments, literally contains the sentence ‘thou shalt not kill’, but are rejoicing over the murder of a child. Hypocrisy.
We are talking about a group of people whose holy book literally says ‘judge not, that thou shalt not be judged’, yet judge homos*xuals as having committed the unforgivable sin. Hypocrisy.
We are talking about a group of people who, as mentioned earlier, worship a guy who said ‘love thy neighbour as thyself’, yet are rejoicing over the murder of someone for being gay. Hypocrisy.
I could go on all day but I have more work to do, and I’m frankly tired of dealing with such hypocrisy. Their sh*t would stink far less if they didn’t use their religion to pretend they are the most pious people on this earth, all the while flouting the bible at every turn as amply demonstrated above.
If you’re a religious Ghanaian, and you read the comments on the Citi Fm piece and feel nothing wrong with them, you are part of the problem and this article is squarely aimed at you.
If you disagree with them, then speak out and let people know your religion doesn’t condone such b*llshit, or once again you are part of the problem, Hypocrite.
