False Start — New Company AirtelTigo Blasted For Misspelling Akan Billboard (Photo)

It seems the merging of Airtel and Tigo is not magically melting away the problems of either networks — billboards announcing their merger are now being criticized.
A social media user chanced upon a billboard announcing the merger which reads – ‘Y’ab) mu’ with the tagline ‘One Big Family’ and hit out at the companies for misspelling the Akan on the billboard.
Elikem Kwame Kotoko, writing on Facebook, noted:

AirtelGhana @airtelghana and @TigoGhana, I am from the Volta region, I speak impeccable eʋegbe, I can equally read and right same perfectly with pride.
I presume both companies [ Tigo & Airtel ] are foreign owned but I will reject any submission that will suggest that the writings on this billboards (which are nationwide) was supervised by someone who is unable to read and write Akan.
From the little understanding am getting from my Akan teachers, your writing “Y’abɔmu” should have instead be “Y’abomu” or Y’abom”
Though I also stand to be corrected, my gut feeling is that I am right and if so, in the exactitude of time, pull down this billboards. Makaaa maka!!!

The two embattled companies announced a merger a few weeks ago as they attempt to match the supremacy of MTN Ghana in the Telecom market.
Check out the billboards below and tell us what you think about the twi spelling.
