Former Black Stars captain Charles Akunnor, popularly known as C.K Akunnor, has been appointed by Obuasi Ashgold as the club’s new head coach.
Akunnor takes charge of the team next week ahead of pre season preparations for the new Ghana Premier League Season.
The 43 year old put pen to paper on a two year deal which would see him return to the club he briefly coached a few years ago.
Akunnor captained the Black Stars in the late 90s during a time of great turmoil for the team. He played as a typical winger for several clubs in Germany, winning 41 caps for the Stars.
Since retiring, he has moved into coaching with his former clubs including Hearts of Oak and Eleven Wise.
