There are some people in Ghanaian politics who you can never expect to speak reasonably on any issue and they’re scattered across all parties. From Kennedy Agyepong to Hassan Ayariga and down to our very favourite Koku Anyidoho.
Yet for some reason, after spending just one night in custody for his alleged treasonous comments, Koku is speaking like the most reasonable person on the planet. What the hell happened to him in there?
Anydioho was released on Thursday after his arrest for making comments that a civil coup d’etat is inevitable in Ghana.
Whilst usually someone who is arrested by their political opponents in Ghana would make noise about persecution, as most NDC bigwigs have been saying since Anyidoho’s arrest, he has come out and is speaking like the most reasonable person and not a political hack as he usually is.
“The police did their job professionally and I want to congratulate them and thank them; the CID boss, DCOP Maame Tiwaa Addo-Dankwa and her people. At least Ghana is working,” Anyidoho said after his release.
“What I saw, heard and went through, we have a professional police…I respect the police much more; I was not tortured, I was not manhandled; they had a job to do and they did it,” he added.
