My Upcoming Album Will Take Me International, Gringo Is Just The Introduction – Shatta Wale

2 min

Gringo is everywhere and we are already getting tired of it. In case you just crawled out of a cave and have no idea what Gringo is all about, well it is Shatta Wale’s latest video that is making waves all over. It is hard to tell whether Gringo is popular because of the actual song or because of the video. Some like the song but don’t care much for the video, which is a little over seven minutes long. Others feel the song is meaningless but the video is top-notch.
Either way, Gringo has gained so much attention in such a short time, but Shatta Wale says we’ve not seen anything yet and this is just the beginning. After claiming Dancehall King in Ghana by force, the Shatta Movement (SM) boss says he is ready to go international now and let the world know who he is. According to Shatta Wale, the song Gringo is for Ghanaians but the video is meant to put him on the international scene. That probably explains why the song has absolutely nothing to do with the video and is not even up to two minutes of the 7-minute six-second video.
Speaking to Adom TV over the weekend, the “Freedom” hitmaker explained that the video for Gringo was meant to depict him as a stranger who barged into the scene to conquer and make a difference. Explaining why the song is so short, he said that it is only an introduction meant to generate buzz for his upcoming album “The Reign”. “I said a whole lot of things in one minute some seconds… so I just felt like doing an introduction before my album and already its reigning and people are talking about it…I have had collaborations from outside, so its gonna be a great album but it is an introduction so people should watch out”, he said.
Meanwhile, Gringo has already hit one million views on Youtube and if it is just an introduction, we anticipate greater feats for the album itself.
