The Chief Executive Officer of Databank, Mr Kojo Addae- Mensah has said Asamoah Gyan‘s goalscoring record in the FIFA World Cup makes him the best Ghanaian footballer of all time.
‘Baby Jet’ as it stands now holds the Africans top scorer record after scoring a goal against Portugal to bypass the Cameronian legend, Roger Miller in the FIFA World Cup 2014 hosted in Brazil.
Mr Kojo Addae-Mensah disclosed this in an interview that there has never been a player in Ghana who comes closer to the goal scoring abilities and achievements of the Black Stars Captain, Baby Jet.
He added that African countries such as Senegal, Nigeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Morroco went to “disgrace” Africa at the ongoing 2018 Russia World Cup because they lacked mental toughness.
“Our mental strength is poor, Senegal’s own was poorer even though they were eliminated via the fair play rule same as Nigeria. Look at the Nigerian team, they are all playing in Europe but have mental issues. I don’t get it and I hope now people will be respecting my view that Gyan is probably and arguably the greatest Ghanaian player of all times.
“Three World Cups, how many goals has he scored…to score a goal at the World Cup is no easy job. When the players are playing in Europe, you will see them differently, look at someone like Fernandinho, what did he do, he did virtually nothing at the World Cup stage but he is a different player altogether for Manchester City in the English Premier League”, he stated.
