Drinking Palm Wine Poses Health Risk — Professor Frimpong Boateng

Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, Minister of Science, Technology, Environmental and Innovation has advised those who have been drinking palm wine aka “White” to be careful because of how modern palm wine tappers process the drink.
According to the Minister who spoke at the 3rd National Policy Summit in Kumasi on the 24th of July 2018, Professor Frimpong Boateng warned people to be careful because modern palm wine is processed by the use pesticides and could lead to all forms of cancer in the near future.

The heart surgeon, therefore, disclosed that some Ghanaians are using weedicides as a means of preserving food and fish in the country.

He called for the ban on the use of such chemicals including weedicides which does not only destroy the weed but also affects the fertility of our soil.
This, as a result, has increased the use of fertilizer in the country because all the nutrients in the soil have been destroyed.
The mission of the summit was to bring together stakeholders from all angles to discuss the country’s health-related issues.
