The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sacked Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko with immediate effect.
A statement from the Presidency, signed by Director of Communications Eugene Arhin, announced the news of the President’s decision.
Boakye Agyarko as Energy Minister was at the centre of the AMERI controversy, in which this government attempted to revise the AMERI power deal they had opposed under the NDC government under even worse conditions.
After public outcry the deal was halted.
Many public policy groups have been calling for the firing of Boakye Agyarko over the deal and they seem to have gotten their wish.
