Tennis star Serena Williams and her Reddit Co-founder Husband Alexis Ohanian have revealed they will not be celebrating their daughter’s first birthday and probably the subsequent ones because of their religious beliefs.

According to Serena, she is of the Jehovah Witness Faith and her belief forbids them to celebrate stuff like that. Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. birthday falls on the first of September.

Serena made this revelation in a press conference at the U.S Open where she is currently competing. “Olympia doesn’t celebrate birthday. We’re Jehova’s Witnesses so we don’t do that.”
Last year, she told Vogue how she does not celebrate Christmas, Easter and other religious celebrations because they displeases God.
“Jehova’s Witnesses don’t celebrate birthdays, Christmas, Easter and other holidays because the religion believes“such celebrations displease God.” Birthdays also have pagan roots, and according to the religion, the Bible “condemns the use of magic, divination, spiritism, or ‘anything like this.'”
