The issue of scammers has been on the rise for years since the very day the internet was introduced in Africa.
There have been several complains made by most of our top celebrities that their images and names have been used to defraud innocent people.
However, popular Nollywood Actor, Mike Ezuruonye aka the “Fresh-boy” is no exception of these ‘crying’ celebrities.
About three years ago, the actor complained bitterly about the same fraud issues and this time he has revealed that his life is in danger as relatives of these innocent scammed victims have started threatening to take his life.
“This has brought tears to me, so much embarrassment. I even went abroad and someone held my shirt and said ‘after talking to you yesterday, after doing everything for you, I sent 25 computers to your foundation, I sent money to you and now you come into this country, don’t tell me you are trying to sneak into this country”, he lamented.
He added that there was a time he was invited by the Nigerian Police just to check the activities on his social media accounts.
“It’s so so sad, I have gotten death threats from, I have gotten husbands of these people, boyfriends of these people, maybe because of the way I deal with I you know, that’s another thing. I have been so used to get money from people.
The EFCC in Benin have been so helpful, I mean, it is really bad. I have seen five people caught. There was a time it was so much the Inspector General of Police’s office got my account investigated, I was invited to the IGP’s office in Abuja. It was that bad”, he added.
He disclosed this during an exclusive interview with a Nigerian entertainment website, Pulse.
Mike, therefore, used the opportunity to advise the general public not to give any money to anyone who uses his picture asking money from them.
