The Spanish coach has been fired as head coach of European champions Real Madrid, just four and a half months after taking the job.
Lopetegui was head coach of the Spanish national team at the time, leading them to qualify for the tournament; but he was sacked just two days to Spain’s opening game after it was discovered he had signed to become Real Madrid coach after the tournament.
That made Spain’s FA livid and they got rid of him, but he had no qualms as he had landed the prestigious Real Madrid job.
However, that hasn’t gone too well either. After losing 5-1 to Barcelona over the weekend, leaving Real Madrid 9th on the table, the club decided to terminate his contract.
