There’s an unending rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria when it comes to everything under the sun. The two countries are frenemies and are always at each others throats.
Name any topic and a rivalry exists – music, movies, even jollof – one country is always fighting for supremacy over the other.
Recently things came to a head musically when some Ghanaian artists travelled to Nigeria and were completely disgraced, with the Nigerian fans standing stiff like boards when our ‘big’ artists such as Stonebwoy and Shatta took the stage to perform.
That has led to Rudeboy, the former member of P-Square, to declare Ghanaian artists as dumb.
The crooner, born Paul Okoye, was interviewed in the U.S by a Ghanaian presenter during the height of that controversy and he made it clear that Ghanaian musicians are not too smart which is what is killing Ghanaian music.
According to him, Ghanaians often bring trends but then everyone jumps on it and it becomes stale, instead of it being improved it becomes overused and useless.
However, according to him, Nigerians are even able to take what Ghanaians bring and take it to another level because they are ‘sharp’.
He also added that if Ghanaian artists are going to perform in Nigeria Sarkodie must be part otherwise it would be a complete flop.
