This argument has been raised before– if and when parents leave their kids to sell in the streets we almost always shove it down the lane of child labour and exploitation but when the tables are turned and these same kids are ventured into something a little bit comfortable, like acting, music and the likes of that— the narrative is different.
We would be told those kids talents are been harnessed and not otherwise. Okyeame Kwame has involved his kids in showbizness and in as much as that may come across as beautiful, others feel the man is exploiting the kids. The Rap Dacta is with a different opinion entirely.
“…if you have a child who is smart and capable of doing things, you need to let them do it because Africa is lacking behind and there is no time to slow things down. I am just trying to prevent them from making the mistakes I made as a child…” OK stated in an interview with Zylofon Fm.
“…I work in the cultural space and I understand how certain things work including social media and business hence, taking advantage of these things is not exploitation.”
