One thing about Ghana is that no matter how much time passes by, very little actually changes and we continue reliving the same nightmare.
Three years and more after the June 3rd tragedy, a different but similar tragedy has struck in the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi.
Reports coming out of the Kumasi suburb of Kofrom this morning indicates that a gas explosion has occurred at a gas station in the vicinity.
One of the gas cylinders is thought to have developed a leak and led to the explosion, dousing several cars around in flame as well, all of which got burnt in the blaze.
Four people so far have been identified as injured in the inferno, Angel FM reporter, Owusu Banahene said. Properties worth thousands of cedis were also destroyed in the fire.
A team of firefighters arrived on the scene to douse the flame, which they did after several hours.
The injured have been rushed to nearby medical facilities, and it remains highly plausible that as more news comes from the scene the casualty count goes higher.
