One of the noblest purposes of old students’ associations is to help those who have gone through the system already and made it to try and help out those coming after them.
Thus whenever old students come together and are able to carry out such an act it’s an admirable measure which ought to be applauded and encouraged.
As we very well know in our part of the world the systems in place to carry out numerous functions are stagnant at best and we desperately need such other bodies to step in occasionally and plug the gaps.
In that vein, the 1994 old student class of the Alajo 1&2 Basic school have stepped up big time with the donation of an ultra-modern ICT centre to the school they once called their home.
The 1994 Class admirably came together and spearheaded the construction of the project for the school, with ample assistance from fellow member and world renowned philanthropist, Nafis Quaye.

Nafis Quaye is the Chief Executive Officer of the World Youth Opportunity Inc, an award-winning, US-based non-profit which has as its core mission taking in young people from the age of 15 and above and providing them with the requisite skills and craft to become employed.
Nafis is no stranger to philanthropy and as an ICT trained professional, recognizes the need for students to have the requisite training in the field to stay abreast of trends in this increasingly digitalized world.
His organization partnered the class to make the donation, which would be presented to the school at a formal inauguration ceremony to be held on the 20th of December at the school’s premises.
The event would be graced by the presence of special guests Hon Henry Quartey, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central and Sheikh I.C Quaye, famed former Accra Mayor and current Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board. Nafis Quaye is scheduled to give a speech at the ceremony.
Growing up, the 1994 class of the Alajo 1&2 Basic School did not get the chance to be schooled in ICT and get a chance to be able to compete with every other student in the developed world but by their efforts, students of the school now would get the world class education needed to become a success in the ‘global village’ out there which is mostly driven by science and technology.
