John Dumelo is ready to kick off his political career. Following reports that he is planning to contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat, the actor has now officially thrown his hat into the ring.
The NDC stalwart has picked up the nomination forms to contest to become the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency’s upcoming by-election.
Ayawaso West currently has no MP after sitting legislator Kyeremanten Agyarko passed away. Both parties are set to hold primary elections in the coming weeks to select a candidate for the by-election to take over the seat.
John Dumelo has been making headlines in recent weeks as considering a run for the seat, and constituency executives have now confirmed that he has picked up the forms to run.
The Chairman of the NDC in Ayawaso West-Wuogon, Bismarck Aborbi Aryeetey, has confirmed to Citi News that a number of people have picked up forms to contest, one of whom is Dumelo.
“Currently, four people have picked nomination forms. Our former DCE who contested in 2016, Delali Kwasi Brempong, and we have John Acquah and John Dumelo. I am told one gentleman called Ewenam has also picked a form,” he said.
The aspirants have to pay Ghc 1,000 for the forms and Ghc 10,000 as filing fees.
The deadline for filing of nomination forms is Friday, December 21st, 2018, with vetting scheduled for Saturday, December 22nd, 2018 and the primary itself set for Friday, December 28th 2018.
