‘He Has Killed A Pastor, We Have To Kill Him Too’ — How Irate Mob Nearly Lynched The Man Who Stabbed A Pastor

Over the weekend Ghana nearly witnessed a repeat of mob justice when a man stabbed a pastor to death and was apprehended by some residents of the area.

The victim, as we’ve reported, was a pastor of the Assemblies of God church in Tema Community 4, and his killer was his own nephew, who was convinced that the pastor was a fake man of God using ‘juju’ to kill his family and church members.

The pastor was reportedly in his office getting ready for Sunday service when the killer ambushed him and stabbed him to death. He was then apprehended and handed over to police but he almost did not make it himself.

According to Citinewsroom, a crowd of residents who arrested him after he stabbed the pastor nearly lynched him and it was only the intervention of the police which saved him.

After the stabbing, he was attempting to board a taxi and escape when he was apprehended. He was hit by a bottle and other missiles by some in the crowd, who were worried he would be let go if given over to the police.

“We have to kill him too. We have to also kill him. He has killed a pastor. He used a knife to stab him [the pastor.]” some residents were heard saying.

“I swear, make sure you don’t release this guy… Police, if you release this guy, what will happen over here…” others also swore.

As some people were trying to lynch him, a police officer came to the scene and saved him, but not before he sustained some injuries.

The pastor was rushed to hospital after the stabbing but unfortunately died, whilst the suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, in an audio explaining his actions, the killer gives his motivations and states why he believes his uncle deserved to die.
