Ebony’s One Year Anniversary Postponed Once Again — Find the New Date

In Ghanaian culture, it’s customary to hold a one year anniversary to mark the passing of a dearly departed relative.

The family of the late dancehall diva, Ebony Reigns, are planning to hold her one-year anniversary in the coming days after her passing in early February 2018.

Ebony’s father, Nana Opoku Kwarteng had already announced that due to some challenges the event would not be held on exactly the one year anniversary of Ebony’s death.

He said it would be held in March but did not give a specific date for the event.

In a recent interview on a Kumasi based radio station, Starboy Kwarteng said the event would be definitively held on 31st March, 2019.

He said the custom of a one year anniversary does not stringently say you can only do it on the exact date of the death thus after consultation with all relevant stakeholders, the 31st March is the date they have all come up with.

He also said the event would most likely be held in Dansoman.

Ebony died in the early hours of February 8th, 2018, whilst returning to Accra from Sunyani where she had paid a visit to her mum. The electrifying dancehall songstress went on to posthumously be awarded the 2018 VGMA Artist of the Year award after the most spectacular breakout year in Ghanaian music history.
