I’ve Lost Everything Because of My Endorsement of NDC — Mzbel Cries

In the run-up to the 2016 general elections, many celebrities endorsed the political party of their choice as they also sought to play their part in the political process in the country.

One of the most vocal of such celebrities was the singer Mzbel, who has long been a fan of the NDC and continued to support its Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama and attack his then opponent, Nana Akufo-Addo at every chance she got.

Unfortunately for her, the NDC went on to lose the elections and things have never been the same since. In a recent interview, Mzbel laments that since the NPP came to power, she has lost a lot of endorsements, followers and business deals.

“…The party [NDC] I have registered as a member and sang for them in 2016  has affected what I do…my own party. People are like you are a celebrity and you’re not supposed to be vocal about the party you love.

“I have lost a lot of fans, I have lost a lot of businesses, I have lost so many things just because I was vocal about politics,” she said.

Another NDC stalwart, John Dumelo recently made similar sentiments in his appearance on ‘Dining with Cooks and Braggarts’, calling on Ghanaians not to punish celebrities for their political affiliations since they also have freedom of association.
