Shooting Erupts at NDC’s Ashanti Regional Office – One Dead and One Other Injured

Once again the two major parties in Ghana prove how similar they actually are in everything. The NDC has been doing nothing but complaining about the NPP being a violent party for the past few weeks since the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and yet here they are engaging in the same activity.

For our two parties, hypocrisy is the order of the day and the fact is Ghana remains in our pathetic state because of the actions of the NPP and NDC.

Despite calling the NPP a violent party and casting them as the worst thing to ever happen to Ghana, violence has also erupted at the Ashanti Regional office of the NDC today.

According to multiple reports from Kumasi, two rival factions engaged in a gunfight which led to one man dying and another currently injured and receiving treatment.

The incident occurred when numerous national party leaders including Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia were in town to attempt resolving the conflict between the two factions.

However, it seems the mediation had no effect as the two factions instead decided to resort to violence.

According to a statement released by the Ashanti Regional NDC, the gunmen attacked the gathering mediating the dispute and fired at them.

“The regrettable incident occurred while a meeting between the National Chairman, The General Secretary, a Deputy General Secretary and the Regional Executive Committee were ongoing. Some men on Motorbike wielding guns attacked a gathering outside, shot indiscriminately and sped off.” the statement, signed by Ashanti Regional Secretary Kwame Zu, said.

“We regret to announce that one of the two men who were shot has passed on and the other is in a critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH),” he added.
