Over the weekend, the world was shocked after news emerged of an Ethiopian airlines flight which crashed just after leaving Addis Ababa, en route to Nairobi in Kenya.
The plane crash led to the deaths of all 157 people on board.
One lucky man was scheduled to be on the plane but missed the flight by mere minutes, effectively saving his life in the process.
Ahmed Khalid was travelling from Dubai to Nairobi, via Addis Ababa, when he missed the connecting flight in Addis Ababa, which ended up being the plane that crashed.
Khalid revealed that there was a delay in his flight from Dubai, which forced him to miss the connecting flight to Nairobi, saving his life.
“It was from Dubai to Addis Ababa and then from Addis Ababa to Nairobi but because of the delay from Dubai I missed the first flight. So when I reached Addis Ababa they told me to take second flight which I said was fine,” he said.
He added that it whilst waiting for the second flight to Nairobi, they were told, without explanation, that their flight would be delayed.
It was later that they saw the news that the first plane had crashed with everyone on board dead.
