Throughout yesterday, lovers of music stayed glued to their TV and radio sets, and patiently followed proceedings, as the list of nominees for the VGMAs were released.
As usual, many people have expressed varying reasons as to the quality of songs and people that have been nominated at various categories of the award show. Many are of the view that it has been two decades, yet Charterhouse and VGMA continues to get some very basic things wrong. We will delve into that aspect of the award properly in separate articles.
One particular category that will be keenly contested this year is the VGMA Album Of The Year Category, as Ghanaian musicians released quality albums during the year under review. Samini’s Untamed Album, Kuami Eugene’s Rockstar, Akwaboah’s Matters Of The Heart, Diana Antwi Hamilton’s I Believe, Shatta Wale’s Reign and Wendy Shay’s Shay On You made it for that particular category.
Samini has reacted positively to news that his ‘Untamed Reggae Album’, got nominated in the Album Of The Year Category at the VGMA’S. He says he would have pulled a stunt similar to that of Shatta Wale in 2013 if the VGMA academy and board have refused him a nomination.
