VGMA Awards are Fake — Choirmaster Goes on a Frustrated Rant after Praye are Overlooked for ‘Group of the Year’

The 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) already looks like it’s going to engender it’s fair share of controversies.

Charter House might be rid of the irritating jabs of Shatta Wale but there are always going to be pissed off acts due to the sheer number of talents and the fact that someone has to be left out of every awards scheme.

Praye staged a massive comeback in the year 2018, after years of being broken up. They had some hit songs in the year under review and surely merit a place in the conversation of the dominant music group of the year.

However, as fate would have it, they failed to garner a nomination when the list was released in full by Charter House on Friday, causing group member Choirmaster (Praye Honeho) to go on a rampage.

According to him, Charter House has ‘mafiad’ them by refusing to nominate them. In numerous posts, he levelled several attacks against the VGMAs, claiming it should be reduced in stature and that organizers are refusing to learn from their mistakes.

“Sorry #Prayefansworldwide !!!!!!

We are no more attending the vgma Norminees party though we hve been invited !

We cant waste our energy, money, and costume Over people who want to deliberately “MAFIA” us! It happened in 2008 it can happen in 2019

#VGMAS celebrating 20years still looks like 1 year old nonsense ! THANK YOU!!

 #PRAYEISBACK #Dontgotothemifdeydontseeyourworth” he posted.
