Ghana’s Latest Deadly Road Tragedy — Close to 70 Dead in Ghastly Kintampo Accident

Almost every other day a ghastly road accident hits this country, leading to the deaths of scores of Ghanaians. Everyone knows road accidents disproportionately take Ghanaian lives but still nothing is done about our poor roads which make driving conditions atrocious.

Thus we often have to contend with needless tragedies such as the latest ghastly road accident, which occurred in the early hours of today.

According to reports, two long buses collided at Amoma Nkwanta, a village near Kintampo in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region, leading to over 50 people dead and scores more injured.

The head-on collision led to one of the buses catching fire, witnesses told 3news, leaving some of the dead bodies burned beyond recognition.

Some of the wounded have been carted to hospitals in the area by police and fire officers, who have arrived on the scene. The accident occurred in the earliest hours of today, between 1 and 2 am.

The death toll is not certain between various news reports, but the reported numbers are anywhere between 50 and 70 or possibly even more.
