‘Ghanaian Comedy Is Retrogressing Because Of Our Media’ — Says Uprising Comedian

Back in the ’90s, Ghanaians felt happy each time they saw some of their comedians like Super OD, Agya Koo, Bob Santo, Bob Okala, Nkomode and even our living legend, KSM injecting happiness into their listeners.

But these days, after watching some of the comedians we have in Ghana, kindly check the level of your blood pressure if you see no increment in it, then luck is on your side. You won’t feel anything but anger because they have nothing funny to offer their listeners.

In an interview on a Takoradi based Y97.9 FM, one of our uprising comedians, Lekzy Decomic opined that he wouldn’t blame anyone for the current bad state of our comedians but rather he will blame the media.

According to him, the media especially the publishers are killing the careers of the comedians because they don’t publish anything good about them.

“Nobody can tell the Ghanaian Story in a comic way better than Ghanaian comedians so focus on our acts and help us build a solid industry. Just because one Ghanaian comedian didn’t do well on one occasion doesn’t mean all Gh Comedians are bad.

“We don’t pay publishers to trend our bad news when we have a bad day why can’t they channel the same energy when they do great. This is killing us as comedians and as a country. If we don’t accept our comedians and help them grow who else would?”
