Whilst the rest of the world takes steps to move on from the petty prejudices of the past and do everything possible to make life more inclusive for everyone, those of us stuck on the poorest continent continue to wallow in our religious induced hate and fear of all things different.
We might be wallowing in dumsor, have a weak economy and astronomical cost of living, but at least we hate gays and go to church every day of the week so we are eventually going to get into heaven and live happily ever after, right? Right.
Anyway, the hate and contempt Ghanaians hold for people just trying to live their lives was on full display at the Kotoka International Airport in a video we’ve sighted on social media.
In the video, a lady who was waiting for her girlfriend to return from a trip surprised her with a proposal right at the airport.
The girl said yes and whilst the couple were having their happy moment, some people in the background could be heard expressing disapproval and shouting shame, as if anyone asked them.
The politicians and religious leaders who are actually, tangibly, contributing to the problems in the country and are deserving of the hate and contempt reserved for gay people are rather adored by Ghanaians.
And we wonder why we remain mired in a true sh*thole country.
