Investigations into the kidnapping of two Canadian nationals in Ghana has commenced and police have already made one arrest in the case.
According to Graphic Online, an Uber Driver in Kumasi has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
As we reported earlier today, two Canadian nationals in Ghana have been kidnapped in Kumasi.
The two girls, aged 19 and 20 years respectively, are students on an exchange program. They were bundled into a car on Monday night whilst returning to their residence.
Police have issued a statement calling for the public to help in arresting the perpetrators and rescuing the girls.
“Investigation started immediately upon receipt of complaint and the security agencies are working closely together to get the rescued and the perpetrators arrested. The general public is urged to assist the Police by volunteering information to complement the effort of the security agencies,” the statement said.
“Due to the nature of the case, the Police is entreating Journalists, media discussants and all persons to be highly circumspect in the discussion of this matter in the media without first cross-checking from official Police sources.
