You Put Your Butts On Display And Expect To Be Called To The Decision-making Table? Chris-Vincent Asks Social Media Feminists

On the back of President Akufo-Addo’s brutal stance on gender equality and women empowerment ─ that Ghanaian women especially those pushing for women’s inclusion in government haven’t done enough to be called to the decision-making table, the social media feminists and activists have descended heavily on him.

President Akufo-Addo sharing his views on gender equality and women empowerment at the Women Deliver Conference in Canada said;

“We are not seeing enough dynamism and activism on the part of those who are seeking. I am talking about dynamism where it matters…electing people to Parliament, controlling political parties because they are the instruments by which our societies make decisions.

“We are talking about decisions, not wishes and hopes, we are talking about decisions that are going to make the difference”.

President Akufo-Addo’s contribution to the issue brought about mixed reactions from Ghanaians ─ with some agreeing to the President whilst others bashed him for his views.

On the back of the above, the Founding Editor of GhanaCelebrities.com, Chris-Vincent Agyapong after sighting Sister Derby’s bikini photos on social media for likes and comments have asked if Ghanaian women are indeed ready to be called to the decision-making table?

on his Facebook page, he wrote;

“One of our social media feminists in Ghana, posting on social media for political inclusion and to be given political power, probably.

Firstly, how do you ignore the cultural importance of what you do in Ghana, and expect mass support? Feminism gets this wrong all the time—the issue of cultural differences and approach.

Secondly, real work must be done. Show me anywhere on social media that those you find in political power or sitting behind the decision making table were showing us their six packs, legs or fine bodies? They were out there fighting for power not social media likes or comments.

And finally, while every person has a right to do whatever he or she wants with her body, it’s always good to know your audience and the people you require power from. It is quicker to change as one person than to wait for 2 million people to change, one by one, for you.
