Veteran Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown, has led some Kumawood actors to present a petition to the law-making body in Ghana (parliament).
The group presented their petition on the 24th of July, 2019 to Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, and requested the government to reconsider its decision to build a movie hub in the Eastern Region to relocate it to the Ashanti Region.

According to Nana Ama McBrown, the Kumawood movie industry plays a vital role in building the economic sector as well as ensuring the socio-economic well-being of Ghanaians.
“We play a very critical role in the movie industry in Ghana. We have employed more Ghanaians as part of our business,” she said.
“For this reason, we are petitioning Parliament to ensure that the Film Village is set up in the Ashanti Region.”

The Majority Leader assured the concerned actors that their petition would be presented to Speaker and it would be addressed accordingly.
The government announced in the 2019 budget that they’ve acquired 22 acres of land to build a Film Village in the Eastern Region.
However, some entertainment pundits including the actors are against the view — precisely the location. They’ve therefore petitioned the government to change the stated location to Ashanti Region.
