Lawyers of Menzgold Ghana CEO Nana Appiah Mensah have applied for his draconian bail conditions to be modified.

NAM 1, as he’s popularly called, was granted bail in the sum of Ghc 1bn with three sureties to be justified.

Despite being granted bail, the Menzgold CEO is still in custody as the bail conditions granted him are nearly impossible to meet.

Having had his assets frozen, it’s more than reasonable to assume raising Ghc 1bn would be no cakewalk. Of the five sureties asked by the court, three of them also have to justified.

Graphic Online reports NAM 1’s lawyers have thus applied for a variation of his bail conditions to more reasonable levels.

Pending that ruling, Nana Appiah Mensah remains in custody despite technically having been granted bail.
