Founder and CEO of The Last Two Music Group, Edward Nana Poku Osei, better known in the music industry as Hammer in an earlier interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM noted that Sarkodie is the only musician in Ghana who has been on his feet in the industry for good 11 years.
“He has never followed the hype. He doesn’t do what’s in the books but survived. People told him he needed a label and executive plans but he defied all that but survived, Sarkodie has accomplished things no Ghanaian artiste has been able to accomplish. He has become number 1 since till date, he’s the only musician who’s been consistent for 11 straight years.” Hammer said this on Hitz FM.
Well, some Ghanaians like our decorated music producer, Mark Okraku Mantey do not agree with what Hammer said in that interview.
According to Uncle Mark, we have musicians like Amakye Dede, Daddy Lumba, Ofori Amponsah, Samini, and even Sarkodie’s own colleague rapper, Obrafour were also consistent during their active years of music.
“I don’t really agree with what Hammer said that we should study Sarkodie as a Course in Schools. Yes, Sarkodie is a brilliant rapper but I think, for now, he’s not at that level for Hammer to say we should study him. Then Ghana should be ready to study some of us too in Schools because I’ve also done extremely well as far as GH Entertainment is concerned.”
He continued that: “I also hear Hammer saying Sarkodie is the only Ghanaian musician who has been consistent for 11 straight years. Massa, Sarkodie is not the only Ghanaian Musician who has been consistent For 11 Years; Obrafour, Daddy Lumba, Amakye Dede, Ofori Amponsah, you name then, were all consistent in their first 11 years of Music; Hammer should give us a break”
