Following his brief yet powerful speech urging patrons present at the 2019 BET Hip-hop Awards to make Ghana their destination when planning of visiting Africa, the government of Ghana has appointed Sarkodie as the official Ambassador for the “Year of Return” initiative.
Sarkodie delivering his acceptance after he won the 2019 “Best International Flow” award said;
“I just want to say thank you to the Almighty God. To my family, this one is for my lil girl Titi…. I think Africa has always had it and it is about that time. This year is the Year of Return and I will urge each and every one of you here to take a trip back home. When you’re coming to Africa, choose Ghana”.
The unveiling of Sarkodie as the official Ambassador for the “Year of Return” initiative took place at the ongoing 2019 Ghana Creative Industry Forum at the National Theatre, Accra.
