The man, Mukhlis bin Muhammad, was whipped 28 times for breaking adultery laws he helped set.
Mukhlis bin Muhammad and her woman were caught in the act by officials in their car parked near a tourist beach.

“This is God’s law. Anyone must be flogged if proven guilty, even if he is a member of the MPU”, the deputy mayor of Aceh Besar district, Husaini Wahab told BBC News.
