Murder he wrote. A U.S murderer is appealing to be released from his life imprisonment sentence because he claims he died during a hospital procedure.
Benjamin Schreiber, a 66-year-old man, says his heart stopped 5 times during a hospital procedure he had back in 2015, meaning he technically died.

After recovering, he appealed for his freedom, claiming his sentence has been served because he died in the hospital.
He appealed to the Iowa Appeals Court.
Schreiber is serving a life imprisonment term for beating a man to death in 1997.
After filing his appeal in 2018, the court finally ruled this month – but he’s not getting his freedom.
According to the court, his appeal is moot – he cannot be released because he’s alive – if he was dead, he would not need to appeal.
In the court’s words – “Schreiber is either alive, in which case he must remain in prison, or he is dead, in which case this appeal is moot.”
