All the way from somewhere out there, DiCaprio is fighting the good fight Ghanaians aren’t even aware of.

Climate change is now a global issue and is reaching a critical point. In a few decades, the earth might become completely unlivable due to man-made climate change unless we do something about it now.

It is in this environment that government are reportedly planning to have bauxite mined in the Atewa forest, which is one of Ghana’s most lush and dense forests.

The forest serves as the source of three major rivers – the Densu, Birim and Ayensu – which together provide drinking water to approximately 5m Ghanaians including 1m in Accra alone.

But the government needs to pay back some loans to China so they’re ready to open the forest to possible contamination, even as we’re in a climate crisis.
