NPP Came To Power Claiming To Be Against Corruption But Have Become Even Worse than NDC – Serwaa Amihere

To say the NPP government has been a disappointment would be an understatement of massive proportions.

That would be like saying Jerry Rawlings was a good coup plotter. No, he was a phenomenal coup plotter who managed to be involved in three coups in three years, with two of them ultimately successful.

The NPP government has been a phenomenal disappointment to Ghanaians – with most promises only slightly fulfilled or not even fulfilled and many others outright abandoned.

In recent times some media personalities are all coming out to lambast the government for their shoddy work which is good to see.

Nana Aba Anamoah did so and got roasted but she didn’t care because she was speaking the truth.

Serwaa Amihere is the lastest to also express her disappointment in sleepyhead Nana Addo and his incompetent government.

Read her post on the issue below…

“President Akufo-Addo swept to power on a massive wave of change, winning the 2016 elections by an almost 1 million vote margin”.

“This margin of victory signalled great expectations especially in view of the many promises he made during the campaign and rightly so.”

“Three years down the line can we say he has lived up to expectation? What are the high and low points of his government?”

“I would say its been a mixed bag. There have been some success as there have been disappointment.”

“For me one of the biggest drawbacks is the size of government which in my view cannot be justified. We simply do not need 125 Ministers to run this small country of our’s and there can be no credible defense for it.”

“I do not buy the argument that this number of Ministers are needed to solve the problems inherited by them. There are much bigger countries with more complex problems who do not have this number of Ministers.”

“For a President who swept to power on the back of anti-corruption,it has been disappointing watching the canker deepen with constant outbreak of scandals. He hasn’t provided the no-nonsense, all action leadership against corruption that we were promised.”

I honestly cannot recollect one instance where any corruption case was seriously tackled with So corruption for me has been a major downside of this government.”

“There is also the issue of broken promises. I have taken time to study the NPP manifesto and there are as many as 281 promises contained in there. With the exception of Free SHS, the other maj promises have not been fulfilled at least in the manner that they were promised.”

“I will cite three to buttress my point: One Village One Dam* We were expecting thousands of dams in keeping with the promise made.I hear about 300 Dams or so have been dug which falls short of the promise made.”

“One million per Constituency* The President and other NPP leaders were emphatic that each Constituency will receive $ 1 million for four years. This means that by the end of next year,a total of $ 1.1 Billion would have been sent to the Constituencies.”

In 2017 and 2018, no monies were sent to the Constituencies to finance IPEP, which is the name given to the use to which the funds will be. It is only in 2019 and 2020 that some money will go. Again that is not what we were promised.”

“*1D1F: The NPP manifesto was clear that gov’t would partner the private sector to establish factories in each district. This meant in the ordinary sense, that at least the 216 Districts which existed at the time of the promise, would each have a new factory.”

“I actually recall that they produced a map showing where each factory will be built, the raw materials to be used and the number of people to be employed. I am aware that different figures have been bandied around as the number of factories built.”

“A closer look reveals that many of them are existing factories which have received stimulus packages. That is not what we were promised and I am disappointed with that.”
