A Ghanaian Man In the U.S Faces 30 Year Jail Term After Being Convicted of Running A Sophisticated $3m Romance Scam

A Ghanaian man in the U.S.A faces a huge 30-year jail term after being convicted of running a $3m romance scam.

Henry Asomani was convicted on several charges related to the scam – with his sentencing hearing to be held soon.

According to the U.S Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, the scam was run on about 13 victims who were looking for love online.

Asomani served as a middleman of sorts for the scammers, who managed to convince their victims to part with their hard-earned cash in return for gold mines, school and travel. 

Over several years, he managed to garner $2,993,354. He kept some of the money and sent the rest to his cohorts in Ghana.

Asomani was born in Ghana but currently holds American citizenship.
