Ghanaian actress and movie producer Ama K Abebrese has shared her view on the comments of movie producer Leila Djansi.
Leila Djansi made a comment of the necessity of Ghanaian actors and actress to be able to switch their accents for international roles.
Her comments was taken badly by some Ghanaians that the movie director is asking Ghanaians to speak like westerners.
In line with this, media personality Ama K Abebrese has agreed with the movie director saying there is nothing wrong in one being versatile.
She also added that there are such situations where American accents are preferred to that of the African accent.
Adding that not everyone is to do that but when one finds themselves in such situations its necessary.
“I totally understand where Leila is coming from because the reality of the matter is when you are in LA, Nollywood, sometimes you get that cast profile and they say American or UK accent or we looking for someone with a Jamaican or Ghanaian accent and I have been to auditions like that, for her as a director to say that, there is nothing wrong with it. I know how people like to sensationalize, and go like Leila is saying you should go and speak LAFA. I dont think what she said is bad but not everbody has to do that,” she said.
