Family Of Conjoined Twins Express Gratitude To Rawlings

Former President, Jerry John Rawlings who made sure that the operation of two conjoined twins, Lydia and Linda Awui came to fruition has been greeted with warm regards from them.

This operation took place at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra 20 years ago.

The two identical twins, Lydia and Linda Awui, their parents, Eunice and Benjamin Awui and the Pediatric Surgeons who undertook the exercise, Dr. Appeadu-Mensah and Madam Benedicta Lasi paid a courtesy call on Mr. Rawlings yesterday to show their gratitude to him for taking the responsibility of saving their lives.

The duo who live at Odumase Krobo with their parents and old students of Akwamuman Senior High School presented some expensive native beads and a plaque of honor unto Mr. Rawlings.

The two sisters who were joined in the abdomen are bent to studying Medicine and are hopeful to save lives and give back what they were given unto the society to save more lives and contribute to making the world a better place.

Former President Rawlings who received their act of gratitude with open arms remarked: “I am so glad somebody is here representing such level of skill. It’s always a pleasure and honor to meet people like you who always perform miracles. It’s a real wonder they made it, listening to the statistics.”
