The new, completely unnecessary Ghana cedi notes which were introduced by the Bank of Ghana for their own reasons, the Ghc 100 and Ghc 200 notes, are already causing some confusion in the country.
A Ghanaian man tried to use the Ghc 200 note to purchase goods at the Accra Mall branch of ‘Game’, the supermarket chain prominent in malls, and the money was refused.
Unhappy over the refusal, he recorded a video of what happened.
The new currency, as legal tender, should be accepted for every transaction, so it’s currently unknown why Game refused.
