Nigerian Visa Applicant Jailed for Presenting A Forged Letter of Invitation to the U.S Embassy

A Nigerian man super desperate to travel to the U.S.A has landed himself into jail.

Lukman Owolabi Ogunsuada has received a suspended one-year jail sentence for forging a letter of invitation to the U.S embassy.

Lukman during his visa process presented a fake letter of invitation to the U.S embassy.

The letter was discovered and he was arrested and placed on trial on two counts of forgery.

Lukman during his trial admitted that he got someone’s letter of invitation and edited it on his phone to use for himself.

He was found guilty and sentenced to one-year imprisonment or alternatively to a fine of N100, 000 and 200 hours community service on one count. He was also handed a fine of N20,000 on the second count of fraud.

The sentences are expected to run concurrently.
