Burna Boy Winning the Grammy Award Would Have Destroyed His Career, I’m Happy He Didn’t Win – Nigerian Therapist Says

Despite his best efforts, Nigerian superstar Burna Boy failed to win the Grammy category he was nominated for, losing out to Benin legend Angelique Kidjo.

All over social media, Nigerians have been reacting to the loss – most of them seem content that he lost to such a legend and believe his time will eventually come.

But one person is expressing happiness that Burna Boy lost.

Oyinkansola Alabi, a therapist, said she’s happy he lost because she’s concerned that winning would have destroyed his career as he would become too arrogant.

“Even though I love his diligence, I really didn’t want him to win. I thought the Grammy award would ruin him. I was scared of his attitude towards fame and money,” she wrote on Facebook.

“I, however, think that his real award is the global recognition and the fact that he contested with a legend. So congratulations, Oluwaburna, may God increase your greatness and may you find him.”

It might sound negative but perhaps she’s right – Burna is young and has more time ahead of him to win.
