Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Adjorlolo in a recent interview revealed that a lot of movie producers still owe him money for working on their projects. The actor was complaining bitterly about the treatment actors receive from movie producers – from not working for free if you are a newcomer to not getting paid if you are a veteran.
The actor showed his anger when asked about his net worth claiming he isn’t close to the figure people keep throwing about.
The comedian DKB chimed in with his own story about a producer owing him money from work done about three years ago.
Kumawood actress Rose Mensah popular known as Kyeiwaa moved away from the movie industry at the peak of her career to the United States. Her decision was mocked by many people when they found out she was working as a kitchen help.
What is unknown to many of us is the fact that the movie industry doesn’t pay. For years we have witnessed many actor and actresses complain about the hardships they face in the industry especially when it comes to money. Some struggle to cater for themselves especially when they fall sick with many having to depend on the generosity of the public. Psalm Adjetefio aka TT is a perfect example of this.
Why should someone continue to work in an industry that refuses to pay them for their services? Kyeiwaa knows for a fact that she will be compensated when she works in her new job compared to having to chase producers for money owe to her.
It is about time many actors and actresses stopped working with these producers who refuse to compensate them for their work.
