2020 is the 20th anniversary of the Millenium Excellence Awards and ahead of this landmark anniversary, this year’s awards have been launched.
The 20th Anniversary and Awards of the Millenium Excellence Foundation was launched Thursday, February 13th at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
The Millenium Excellence Awards is one of the most prestigious awards, held under the patronage of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
It is held every 5 years and honours the best institutions and individuals in all sectors of the Ghanaian economy for their varied contributions to national development.
For this year’s 5th edition awards, more than 1,650 individuals and organisations have been nominated in 35 categories, and the public would be called upon to help select deserving winners through a nominating process.
In his remarks at the launch, the President of the Millennium Excellence Foundation, Ambassador Ashim Morton, said; “We want this year to be a milestone in enhancing the Millenium Excellence Foundation’s profile in the world.
“As such, all patrons and supporters will have to align themselves with our mandate, past laureates and soon to be mentioned 2020 laureates to strive for excellence,” he added.
The awards launch was attended by numerous dignitaries including Nana Dr SKB Asante, the Paramount Chief of Asokore Mampong, who represented Otumfuo.
Others in attendance included former GRA Boss Mr Blankson, U.S Ambassador to Ghana Ms Stephanie Sullivan, 2nd deputy speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, MTN CEO – Selom Adadevoh, Rev Dr Lawrence Tetteh and others.
This year’s edition of the awards come off in July.
